Professor Jack Miller has joined the Board of Trustees of The Gem State Tax Symposium. The symposium was founded by Boise State University Business Professor Bill Lathen and University of Idaho College of Law Professor Barbara Lock in 2013.  It is jointly sponsored by the BSU College of Business and Economics (COBE) and the UI College of Law.  It provides tax related continuing education to accountants and Lawyers. Currently the symposium is headed by BSU Professor Mark Cowan, who is trained as both a lawyer and as an accountant. The next symposium will be held at the COBE building in Boise on June 2nd, 2017. The UI College of Law and the BSU COBE jointly offer two concurrent degree programs; a Juris Doctor/Masters of Business Administration (JD/MBA) and a Juris Doctor/Masters of Accountancy Taxation (JD/MSAT).  By cross listing courses and offering joint credit the concurrent degree programs enable students to get both degrees a semester sooner than would otherwise be possible. "I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with Professor Cowan as we build on the legacy created by Professors Lathen and Lock."  Miller said. "The cooperation between our two colleges can only grow in importance over time as the College of Law expands in Boise."
