Professor Annemarie Bridy participated last week in a convening of leading copyright scholars at the University of California Berkeley's Center for Law & Technology to discuss a United States Copyright Office proposal to create a copyright small claims tribunal to be located in and administered by the Copyright Office. The roundtable focused on a Copyright Office report issued in 2013 and a corresponding bill, H.R. 5757 (114th Cong.), introduced by Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D - NY) in 2016. The roundtable's participants considered all aspects of the proposal--including personal and subject matter jurisdiction, adjudicative personnel and procedure, and remedies--with the goal of formulating recommendations for policy makers should the proposal go forward in the 115th Congress.
