Professor John Rumel  spoke as a co-presenter on the topic “What Not to Wear . . . or Do, Email, Tweet or Blog -- The Questionable  Off Duty Conduct Standards," at the National Organization of Lawyers for Education Associations ("NOLEA") Annual Conference held in Boston, Massachusetts on October 6-8, 2016.  The presentation was based in part on Professor Rumel's 2015 article, "Beyond Nexus:  A Framework for Evaluating K-12 Teacher Off-Duty Conduct and Speech in Adverse Employment and Licensure Proceedings," published in the University of Cincinnati Law Review.  Professor Rumel's appearance at the Conference was something of a homecoming in that, prior to joining the College of Law faculty in 2011, he was a member of NOLEA for sixteen years while serving as General Counsel for the Idaho Education Association.
