Professor John Rumel presented a paper entitled "Teacher and Other Political Speech in the K-12 Setting: Rights and Permissible Regulation" at the 2016 Annual Conference of the Education Law Association in Orlando, Florida on November 3, 2016. Based on the ELA Conference occurring at the height of this election season, the paper addressed legal issues concerning political speech by educators at and away from school and political speech by others on or near school property. Professor Rumel would like to thank 3L student Emily Joyce for her substantial contributions to the research and writing of the paper.
