On Friday, January 6, 2016, Associate Professor Shaakirrah R. Sanders moderated a panel entitled, Navigating the Path to Tenure and Promotion (Things I Wish I Had Known When I Started), at the 2017 AALS Annual Meeting Pretenured People of Color Workshop. Professor Sanders also served as a member of the workshop planning committee. The Pretenured People of Color Workshop dovetails with the AALS Workshop for New Law School Teachers and provides additional opportunities for in-depth discussion for professors of color. The workshop allows participants to share their experiences and concerns with each other and with a roster of inspirational scholars and teachers. The workshop sessions focus on how these challenges arise in the context of scholarship, teaching, and service, as well as in the tenure process itself.
