A local group in Moscow is drafting an anti-school-bullying bill to submit to the Idaho Legislature for the 2014 legislative session. Several months ago, former representative Tom Trail introduced them to Brenda High, a mother whose son, Jared, committed suicide because he was bullied at school. In 2006, Tom Trail and Brenda High drafted “Jared’s Bill,” which was signed into law by the Idaho State Legislature. Tom and Brenda are now assisting and supporting the group in drafting a more comprehensive bill. Also on the team are Mary Jo Van Gerpen and two dedicated UI law students, Casey Drews and Cody Moore, who were introduced to them by Jeffrey Dodge, Associate Dean for Students and Administration, UI College of Law.
